Great news! Judge Sydney Stein issued an order allowing public listening via online audio of the oral argument regarding OpenAI’s and Microsoft’s motions to dismiss some of the New York Times’ claims on Jan. 14, 2025, 10:30 AM, in Courtroom 23A.
The court’s order states:
“IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that any person who wishes to listen-in to the argument which will be held on January 14, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. in Courtroom 23A, may do so via MS Teams using the audio only feature.
The audio only number is 646-453-4442, conference ID 307 619 861#. Anyone who accesses the conference is reminded that recording or rebroadcasting of the proceeding is prohibited by law.”
Note: I think this means you can just use your phone to dial-in above using the phone number above.
I found additional instructions from Microsoft, although I am not sure you need to do all these steps. According to Microsoft, here’s how you join a Teams meeting for audio calls:
In Microsoft Teams, the Call me feature gives users a way to join the audio portion of a meeting by phone. This is useful when you’re unable to use a computer for audio.
Users will be able to hear and speak in the meeting through their mobile or land-line phones. They can join on a second device to view shared content.
To call into a meeting:
- Open a meeting in your Teams calendar.
- Select Join.
- Select Phone audio on the pre-join screen.
- Select Join now.
- Enter the phone number you’d like the meeting to call and select Call me.
- Say “Ok” or press 1 to join the meeting.
- Hang up or select Disconnect in the meeting window to end your call.
