It was bound to happen. The copyright lawsuits against AI companies has reached 20.
Book authors Stewart O’Nan, Abdi Nazemian, and Brian Keene have sued MosaicML and Databricks for the former’s alleged direct infringement based on its unauthorized use of their books to train its LLM. Databricks acquired MosaicML in July 2023 and is sued for vicarious infringement.
The Joseph Saveri Law Firm has now filed 7 of the 20 AI copyright lawsuits in the United States. This lawsuit is similar to the one it just filed on behalf of the same writers against Nvidia.
