The Joseph R. Saveri is back at it again, this time bringing a proposed class action lawsuit against GPU chipmaker NVIDIA for allegedly infringing the copyrights of book authors Brian Keene, Abdi Nazemian and Stewart O’Nan as a part of NVIDIA’s use of a book dataset that included their writings to train NVIDIA’s NeMo AI model.
There’s only one claim in the complaint: direct infringement based on the training of the AI model, not based on any output of the model
The case is Nazemian et al v. NVIDIA Corporation [docket].
This brings the total number of copyright lawsuits against AI companies to 19 total in the United States. Joseph R. Saveri law firm has now represented plaintiffs in 6 of these lawsuits. For a complete list of all lawsuits, visit here.
