David L. Greene, former host of All Things Considered, seeks a remand back to state court in suit v. Google

David L. Greene has filed a motion to remand his suit against Google back to California state court after Google removed it to federal court in David L. Greene v. Google.

Greene was the former host of NPR’s Morning Edition and current podcaster. He alleges various state law claims against Google for allegedly using recordings of Greene’s voice to train the model behind NotebookLM.

The removal to federal court is based on Google’s argument that these claims involve rights equivalent to copyright that are preempted by the Copyright Act.

Greene argues, however, his state law claims are not equivalent to a copyright law claim.
