Bartz Class Settlement website goes dark temporarily, by court order due to steering away from opt outs

The Bartz Class Counsel has temporarily taken down the class settlement website to comply with Judge Alsup’s late evening order.

They have until Tuesday, Nov. 25, 7:30 AM to fix the website and forms to comply with Judge Alsup’s order.

Obviously, this is a major setback for the Bartz Class Counsel. But it seems early enough in the process for all the problems the Judge flagged to be fixed. And, as Class Counsel has already stated, all class members can still opt out even if they have elected to file a claim earlier.

And, as I’ve said, my hunch is that most people would choose to receive $3,100 in 2026 versus the chance of opting out and trying to pursue their own claims anew. But I agree 100% with Judge Alsup that class members should be given that choice, with “equal dignity” to all the options they have.
