Well, the movie studios are now all-in the AI copyright lawsuit frenzy. After remaining on the sidelines until late 2024, the movie studios have now filed their 3rd lawsuit (2 are against Midjourney filed by Disney, Universal, and Warner Brothers).
This time, they’ve collectively sued the Chinese company Minimax for its offering of an image and video generator called Hailuo Agent, shown below. The same lawyers from Jenner & Block have filed this one too. Hailuo Agent allegedly marketed its service as a “Hollywood studio in your pocket.”
And the examples almost look like ones in the complaint against Midjourney:

This case was filed in the Central District of California.
This is U.S. copyright lawsuit No. 51. It raises the tally worldwide to 75 copyright suits v. AI companies.
