As first reported by Wall Street Journal, OpenAI’s creative specialist Chad Nelson is producing an animated feature-length movie called “Critterz.”
It is an open secret that Hollywood studios would like to use AI for parts of movies, such as special effects scene, to reduce the escalating costs of movie production. However, given the sensitivity and backlash AI use provokes, as well as the United States Copyright Office’s negative view of prompt–engineered content as not copyrightable, the studios are probably reluctant to jump into the fray.
So, it makes sense OpenAI is attempting to show what AI video generation can do.
Google is doing something similar with its “100 Zeroes” project.
