Judge Stein grants oral argument for OpenAI’s objection to order to store user chat logs. Hearing on June 26.

Judge Stein granted the request of OpenAI to hold an oral argument on its motion to overrule the order of Magistrate Judge Wang to preserve all user chat logs, at least for the time being as she considered the New York Times’ argument that some relevant discovery may have been destroyed.

The oral argument will take place on June 26 after the technology tutorial at 10:00 a.m. in Judge Stein’s Courtroom, 23A, 500 Pearl Street, New York, NY.

In the first OpenAI podcast, Sam Altman sounded optimistic the company will prevail in getting the order overturned, which he called a “crazy overreach of the New York Times to ask for that.”
