At yesterday’s hearing, Judge William Alsup reportedly had expressed some concerns about the proposed class action of book authors in Bartz v. Anthopic.
According to Isaiah Poritz of Bloomberg Law, Judge Alsup had “sympathy for that problem” of lumping together in a class different book authors with competing or conflicting interests. Alsup reportedly “said class action plaintiff’s attorneys often ignore issues about how to manage the distribution of settlement funds to the class, so ‘for the next ten years I have to hear from somebody who thinks they got cheated out of the money.’”
