Joseph Saveri was appointed by Judge Breyer as the interim lead counsel based on an unopposed motion in the consolidated cases involving O’Nan and Makkai against Databricks and Mosaic ML.
Saveri has a similar pending motion before Judge Lee in the In re Google Generative AI Litigation. Saveri has other cases in which no motion has been made yet: Nazemian v. NVIDIA, Andersen v. Stability AI, Doe 1 v. Github.
Judge Araceli Martinez-Olguin denied his request in the In re OpenAI ChatGPT Litigation, basically finding no need to appoint an interim lead counsel before the certification of the class.
Meanwhile, he didn’t even get a chance to be interim lead counsel in Kadrey v. Meta after Judge Chhabria said he wouldn’t appoint him due to apparent failure to prosecute the case during discovery. The David Boies law firm was then brought in and appointed interim lead counsel.
