Judge Chhabria granted the motion to consolidate the two book author lawsuits against Meta Platforms, Kadrey v. Meta and the recently filed Farnsworth v. Meta.
David Boies’s firm is appointed interim lead counsel with Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein serving as additional counsel.
Somewhat unclear what role the Joseph Saveri Law Firm, which had originally represented the book author plaintiffs, will take (if any).
Here’s what Judge Chhabria ruled:
ORDER. The 228 request to consolidate Kadrey, No. 23-3417, and Farnsworth, No. 24-6893, is granted. Kadrey will serve as the lead case, and the clerk is directed to close the Farnsworth matter. If the addition of the Farnsworth matter results in any delay in the case schedule, the Court will reverse this order, reestablish the Farnsworth matter as a separate case, and stay that case pending resolution or adjudication of the Kadrey matter. Boies Schiller Flexner is appointed interim lead counsel in the consolidated matter, with Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein serving as additional counsel. Signed by Judge Vince Chhabria on 10/18/2024.
