Well, all the goodwill from the impressive Google I/O debut of its AI programs a couple weeks ago seems to have been squandered in a disastrous rollout of AI Overviews at the top of the page of Google search. The idea behind AI Overviews is to enhance a Google search with additional information compiled by AI.
Unfortunately, that has led to some error-filled information that is nutty and sometimes unsafe.
It’s hard to imagine how AI Overviews was given approval for a public launch by Google.
