As reported by NPR’s Bobby Allyn, the Hollywood Reporter, and others on social media, Scarlett Johansson issued a statement regarding her rejection of Sam Altman’s office for voice work for ChatGPT 4.
Scarlett Johansson refused Sam Altman’s offer to do a voice for ChatGPT. So apparently OpenAI found a similar voice from a different actor. Johansson “was shocked, angered and in disbelief that Mr. Altman would pursue a voice that sounded so eerily similar to mine that my closest friends and news outlets could not tell the difference.”

Apparently OpenAI found a similar voice from a different actor, which many people said sounded like Johansson’s portrayal of the AI in the movie Her. Altman’s favorite movie is Her. And he tweeted “her” upon the release of GPT 4o.
OpenAI has paused the use of the Sky voice on GPT 4o and has written a blog post explaining its process of hiring the actors for the voice work.
