Joseph Saveri Law Firm files another AI copyright lawsuit, Zhang v. Google, on behalf of visual artists

On April 26, 2024, the Joseph Saveri Law Firm filed yet another copyright lawsuit against AI companies, Zhang v. Google. If our tally is correct, this brings the Saveri Law Firm’s total number of AI lawsuits brought to 8 lawsuits, making it the law firm with–by far–the most AI copyright lawsuits in the United States.

The new lawsuit, filed in the Northern District of California, is brought on behalf of the visual artists Jingna Zhang, Sarah Andersen, Hope Larson, and Jessica Fink against Google and Alphabet for their text-to-image generator, Imagen.

The case has been assigned to Judge Edward J. Davila in San Jose.

This brings the total number of pending copyright lawsuits against AI to 21.
