Anthropic’s S-1 for IPO reportedly spends 80 pages on risks, including “existential risk” to humans. Details of copyright risk to company yet to be reported.

As first reported by Reuters, Anthropic’s S-1 for its IPO includes some 80 of 261 pages detailing potential risks the company faces, far more coverage than in a typical prospectus, such as SpaceX devoting 38 of 277 pages. For more coverage, see here, here, and here. As we predicted, Anthropic needed to include the existential risk given how its own researchers were publicly airing those concerns. Otherwise, they would likely face a shareholder derivative suit later.

The financials of the company are quite interesting: Anthropic had a $8 billion operating loss, $42 billion net loss, but made $4.6b in revenue, amounting to 1,088% increase in revenue (ARR). But 2 customers make up 24% of that revenue — and not in a long-term contract.

what about the copyright liability risks anthropic faces?

Unfortunately, I haven’t found much reporting on the copyright risks, and the S-1 is not yet public. Stay tuned. Surely some of the 80 pages is devoted to this topic.
