The advisory jury in Musk v. Altman will deliberate starting on Monday over Elon Musk’s two claims against Sam Altman, Greg Brockman, and OpenAI for alleged breach of charitable trust and unjust enrichment.
The court schedule for the trial did not hold any sessions on Friday. But it’s a bit of surprise no exception was made for the deliberations immediately following the closing arguments. This case seems pretty simple, as Judge Gonzalez Rogers said, largely about credibility of the witnesses. I’d expect the jury will be able to decide in a day or less. Now they will have the weekend to reflect on what they heard before deliberating on Monday.
While Altman and Brockman sat in the courtroom, Musk was not there — he was in China with President Trump. OpenAI’s lawyers pointed that out during their closing arguments.
The closing arguments were fun to listen to. But only 800 people were listening on the livestream. That’s far less than expected. But perhaps it indicates that most people have moved on from this controversy, if they were even interested in it.
