Magistrate Judge Levenson denies protective order motion due to presumption given to “confidential” designations

You don’t this everyday. Magistrate Judge Levenson denied the parties’ proposed protective order and the sealing procedure. The Judge found that the proposed approach would create a presumption to file a motion for sealing for anything designated by the parties as “confidential.”

Also surprising to see a day before on the docket: “Case no longer referred to Magistrate Judge Paul G. Levenson.” Unsure that means given his order today.
