The lawsuits are now coming fast and furious, with the third copyright lawsuit filed this week. But this one, Woulard v. Uncharted Labs, was filed in the Northern District of Illinois, the first copyright lawsuit against an AI company filed there.
This suit brings the total number of U.S. copyright suits filed against AI companies to 54.
The case has been assigned to Judge Sara Ellis.
David “Davo Sounds” Woulard and other independent music artists propose a class action. Woulard is represented by Ross Kimbarovsky, Jon Loevy, Michael Kanovitz, Matthew Topic, Aaron Tucek, LOEVY & LOEVY.
A unique claim in this lawsuit: “Udio collected, stored, and exploited biometric identifiers and voiceprints derived from human performances without adhering to the legal safeguards required by the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), thereby violating the Act.”
