OpenAI flirts with more copyright suits as it prepares video generator reportedly using copyrighted outputs subject to opt out

Fourteen copyright lawsuits in the United States apparently isn’t enough for OpenAI.

Per the Wall Street Journal, “OpenAI is planning to release a new version of its Sora video generator that creates videos featuring copyright material unless copyright holders opt out of having their work appear, according to people familiar with the matter.”

If OpenAI goes through its plans on an opt-out approach, expect more lawsuits to be filed.

Putting aside which side is right on the law, it’s unlikely all the movie studios and content creators will agree with the opt-out requirement of OpenAI.
