Judge Hellerstein grants extension of discovery in UMG v. Uncharted Labs

As stipulated jointly by the parties, Judge Hellerstein granted an extension to the scheduling order. Currently, UMG is seeking leave to amend to add an anti-circumvention violation under the DMCA due to alleged “stream ripping” of sound recordings on YouTube videos. Expect Judge Hellerstein to grant this motion.

The parties requested 2 months more of document production, from Oct. 10, 2025 to Dec. 10, 2025:

Because the original Scheduling Order didn’t set a briefing schedule for summary judgment, no dates are provided in this letter.

ORDER REGULATING PROCEEDINGS: The parties’ request for extension of deadlines, as submitted on September 26, 2025, is granted. The status conference previously scheduled for October 22, 2025, is canceled.
