We updated our Master List of All U.S. Copyright Suits v. AI companies. We counted 47 lawsuits, 3 of which were voluntarily dismissed, leaving 44 pending lawsuits, 2 of which are already on appeal (Doe 1 v. Github in the Ninth Circuit and Thomson Reuters v. ROSS Intelligence in the Third Circuit.)
We also added the types of models involved in the lawsuits. Because there are at least 13 lawsuits against OpenAI, the majority of suits involve LLMs. Some suits (such as against Stability AI and Midjourney) involve diffusion models.
