Canadian Legal Information Institute (CanLII), a provider of a legal database to cases, statutes, and legal commentary, sued the AI company Caseway AI on November 9 for alleged copyyright infringement in scraping CanLII’s content, about 3.5 million records, to train Caseway AI’s model.
This case sounds similar to the U.S. lawsuit Thomson Reuters v. ROSS Intelligence.
