On Monday, two new copyright lawsuits were filed against AI companies. This time, the music labels led by UMG Recordings sued two AI music generators, Suno and Unchartered Labs d/b/a Udio.
The suit against Suno was filed in the District of Massachusetts; the one against Udio in the Southern District of New York.
The 12 music labels are represented by Moez Kaba, Mariah Rivera, Alexander Perry of Hueston Hennigan LP in NYC; Robert Klieger of Hueston Hennigan in LA; and Daniel Cloherty of Cloherty & Steinberg only in the Massachusetts suit.
Music publishers had already filed a copyright lawsuit against Anthropic in Nashville district court, which is now considering a motion of preliminary injunction against Anthropic.
