Amazon secures preliminary injunction v. Perplexity’s Comet AI browser from using AI agents to scrape Amazon website. Judge Chesney finds likelihood of success that Perplexity bypasses password-protected site

The scraping wars just got more interesting. Judge Chesney granted Amazon’s motion for a preliminary injunction to stop Perplexity from allegedly using AI agents to bypass Amazon’s password protected website, in order to scrape content from it.

But Judge Chesney delayed the injunction by 7 days so Perplexity could appeal the decision to the Ninth Circuit, which it did.
