By our count, this brings the total to 48 copyright lawsuits in the U.S. against AI companies, of which 45 are still pending (after 3 were voluntarily dismissed).
3 cases are already on appeal: Thomson Reuters v. ROSS Intelligence, Raw Story Media v. OpenAI, and Doe 1 v. Github.
3 cases have had decisions on fair use: Thomson Reuters v. ROSS Intelligence (no fair use), Bartz v. Anthropic (fair use in the training of AI models, but not in the initial downloaded of copies from shadow libraries), and Kadrey v. Meta (fair use).
